Could you please tell us what inspired you and JR to Create Market America and SHOP.COM?
We created Market America to give people the opportunity and the tools to become entrepreneurs through a proven business model. My husband had a brilliant plan over 20 years ago that could enable anyone to find financial freedom and along with my brothers, we’ve been building on that vision ever since. With our acquisition of SHOP.COM two years ago, we’ve combined high-tech and high-touch, giving customers not only the ultimate online shopping experience with up to 50% cash back on their purchases, but partnering them with personal Shop Consultants who can help answer questions and guide them to whatever they’re looking for.
Tell us more about Motives by Loren Ridinger? And what inspired you to create it with the Lovely La La Anthony?
When I created Motives, it was developed out of need. I knew women were looking for high-quality cosmetics at affordable prices, because I was one of them. The thing was, based on what I saw on the market, I wasn’t thrilled. I knew there was a better way, and I sought out to provide that; not only for myself, but for the millions of women worldwide who were looking for the same thing.
Partnering with a woman as talented and beautiful as La La Anthony was an easy decision. I’ve always been friends with La La, and we got to talking about the need for more products and colors that will compliment women everywhere and how Motives could address that need. Our inspiration for the Motives for La La line has been and always will be the uniqueness of every woman, and the two of us are so excited to continue to bring the best. Now with Motives for La La, we truly offer beauty in every shade.
When did you decide to open offices abroad and what lies ahead in terms of international expansion?
It was right before the year 2000 that JR, myself and the Market America team saw an opportunity to bring not only Market America products, but the Market America Business Model, globally. People around the world not only want the best products and services, but they want a way to find financial freedom. We knew we offered a better way, so why not share it with the world?
The international expansion of the company began with the opening of Market Australia in 2002, followed by Market Taiwan in August 2005 and then Market Hong Kong in September 2007. In February 2012, Market United Kingdom was launched followed by Market Mexico in June 2012.
As for the future: We’ve recently launched our global e-commerce site, GLOBAL.SHOP.COM, to broaden our sales reach, which is something our customers have been seeking for a very long time. We’re also looking to bring the Market America business model to even more countries, and are looking to expand into places like Singapore, New Zealand, the Philippines, Spain and additional South American countries in the coming months.

What advice would you give to young men and women, hoping to build their own business and become independent & successful in their career?
Simply: they can do it. Success is easier than you think. Work at it every day. Surround yourself with positive people and if someone tells you ‘no’, move on to the next, because I promise you: if you knock on enough doors, one will open.
Been such a sweet and caring mother, tell us about your involvement in the “Rally for Kids with Cancer” foundation.
I co-chaired the Rally for Kids with Cancer with my dear friend Eva Longoria and it is a cause very dear to our hearts. Having a child myself (who now also has a child!), I’ll do anything to help those kids who are suffering and I know Eva feels the same way. The Rally really let us put the fun back in fundraising and it’s an interactive way to spend time with those you are trying to help.
What are your upcoming projects this year and what plans do you and JR have for MA (market America) in UK?
We’ve been working on so many exciting new projects…Our Global Unified Commission Plan, which will inspire much more Transatlantic distributors and therefore see a relevant sales growth, is one of them. We also have a new customer incentive program in the UK which will be rolling out at the end of the year and we look forward to seeing our customer base in the UK increase because of the way we are going to reward our customers for shopping – a program unlike anything UK or Europe as seen before!
In addition, like we announced 3 years ago at our 2013 International Convention that we were launching new products from a wide assortment of health & nutrition and beauty and personal care brands to the UK market:
Modern Day Romance, we also launched our Fall/Winter collection from our award-winning Motives by Loren Ridinger, along with our widely-successful skin care brand, Lumiere de Vie. We are also heading into a new market – baby and child care – with the launch of DNA Miracles and DNA Miracles Natural. The new lines is comprised of high quality body and wellness products for babies, children and expectant mothers, with DNA Miracles Natural products carefully formulated to include only the most natural of ingredients and formulas for young children. We are also launching on the UK market multiple new health & nutrition products, including new additions to our revolutionary Isotonix nutritional supplement line, as well as new brands based on the latest science, research and trends in the health & nutrition industry.
It is often said that you come from a family of entrepreneurs. What have you learned from them so far?
Working with my family is such a blessing. The love and respect I have for my husband, JR, for building this business goes beyond words. There are times when he leans on my expertise and advice, and I do the same with him; we complement each other, which makes for not only a great business relationship but strengthens our love each and every day.
The same thing can be said about my brothers, Marc and Steve. They bring so many valuable assets to the table each and every day, and we all complement each other. We all contribute, we all listen and – at the end of the day – all agree on moving this company forward for the benefit of everyone involved. We work hard each and every day: a team of entrepreneurs setting out to change the landscape of their industry.
What is your definition of “Women Empowerment”?
Women need to surround themselves with other positive women. If we don’t lift one another up and support each other’s endeavor, then who will? Women can do it all: be the mother, be the wife, be the CEO, be the best friend, be the sister, be the daughter, be the teacher. That needs to be celebrated.
What is your Philosophy and Mantra?
I believe in a leadership style that fosters empowerment, commitment and accountability. My goal as a leader is to help people reach their full potential. I believe in giving flexibility to try new things and experiment, which leads to innovation and achievement. At the same time, I enjoy being hands-on with my teams, providing direction, insight and inspiration. This level of connection and collaboration, in the end, makes us all better.
What is your personal style & what are some of your beauty and health Tips?
I love classic pieces with edgy accessories. My best beauty and health tips are honestly the simplest: always apply sunscreen, get as much sleep as you can and always wash your face before bed! Everyone also needs to spend the time finding a great skin care routine. Your skin will thank u later!
