The vegan logo tote from Stella McCartney's autumn/winter 2023 collection has the company's well-known Fungi Forest toile de Jouy design in a deep burgundy color. Using thread manufactured from post-consumer recycled polyester, the elaborate pattern is woven onto the Bananatex basis.

Abacá banana trees grown in the Philippines are the source of Bananatex, a Cradle to Cradle Gold-certified textile. These plants don't need pesticides or fertilizers because they are self-sufficient. Each plant in the local ecology, which is common, produces several stalks that may be picked each year and regenerate completely in a year. These plants support the local biodiversity as they grow.

The Abacá plant stalks, which have extraordinary tensile strength and endurance, are turned by Stella McCartney into a sumptuous, premium canvas that resembles cotton. Additionally, the Abacá plant promotes reforestation in previously monocultured palm lands in the Philippines by organically decomposing its leaves after harvest to provide an all-natural fertilizer.

The Bananatex fabric may be used to make pulp, which can be used to make paper, which can be used to make yarn once again.

Hannes Schoenegger, co-founder and CEO of Bananatex, expressed, "Stella McCartney has always been at the forefront of animal rights and environmentalism in the fashion industry. This collaboration with our fully circular textiles marks a significant milestone in Bananatex's history. Our goal is to contribute to positive change, and we are excited about the future developments ahead."

You can get the Stella logo Fungi Forest Toile de Jouy tote bag from Stella McCartney shops and online retailers for £1,350.
