Featured: ASAI SPRING SUMMER 2024 FASHION SHOW
After a three-year absence, A Sai Ta triumphantly returned to the runway last season, exhibiting her newly found confidence. He experimented with numerous other creative fields, including as painting and cinema, during his break from the fashion industry.
Ta shocked the fashion industry this season by focusing on a single technique: weaving fabric strands into provocative nets or sculptural clusters. He noted that this targeted strategy enabled him to direct his creativity and self-assurance into a more concentrated vision for the performance, one that highlighted the body.
Along with off-the-shoulder variants of Ta's trademark "hot wok" tops and elasticized mesh pieces with a swimwear-like aspect, these alluring weaves were heavily featured in the collection.
Ta experimented with dramatic colour choices, starting with a mango-coloured outfit and moving on to hues of colourful pink and purple, eye-catching yellow, and vibrant green, as well as a quirky two-piece outfit that was reminiscent of raspberry ripple ice cream. Ta's intuitive use of colour produced bold and striking patterns that were ideal for the courageous clientele that Asai draws.
The programming of Ta's presentation this season, to which he was invited as a special guest by the Fashion East talent incubator programme, was informed by his return to his creative roots.
His early days at Fashion East came flooding back, and this experience stoked his creative fire. The end result was an electric collection that demonstrated his development as an artist and distinct style.
