Designer Spotlight : AnOnlyChild Spring Summer 2024 collection lookbook
Maxwell Osborne, the creative force behind the fashion label AnOnlyChild, has always had a distinct view on design. Osborne, known for his esoteric approach to fashion, has continuously pushed the limits and explored the concept of 'home' in his designs. He opted to begin the Spring Summer 2024 collection with a simple yet widely relevant question: "How do you chill on a Sunday?"
Sundays are treasured in a world that sometimes thrives on continual mobility and never-ending activity. It's a day for taking a step back, planning for the week ahead, and simply enjoying some nothingness. However, Sundays may also be spent running errands, meeting up with friends, or taking a leisurely stroll. The goal is to unwind, and the basis for this relaxation begins with the clothing we select to wear. So, how do you dress on a lazy Sunday?
In response to this question, Maxwell Osborne stated, "You wake up, you're getting ready to go to brunch, maybe stay at home, you're wearing a version of what you wore on Saturday, but it's not the same, it's Sunday." During this period of reflection, Osborne focused on the theme of ease, and he methodically constructed each costume to emanate this sense. Every necessity in the collection was meticulously provided with a matching item, making it easy for users to create effortlessly beautiful outfits, whether tailored, athletic, or lounge-inspired.
The shirring detailing, which appeared from the start, was one of the collection's prominent characteristics. Osborne's characteristic double pleats on trousers and generously proportioned designs that emphasised comfort without sacrificing flair were added to the mix.
AnOnlyChild's denim line was a remarkable addition to this season's inventory. Last summer, the company debuted a denim capsule in a hybrid outdoor market and party, complete with a live lookbook shoot to reveal new designs. Each item is hand-washed, coloured in Brooklyn, and made from deadstock denim. The attention on proportions distinguishes these jeans, demonstrating Osborne's ability to design visually beautiful trousers that not only fit well but also make a dramatic fashion statement.
Osborne's short-sleeved suits were another standout feature in the collection. He openly revealed that he had considered canceling them this season owing to their popularity. It's a good thing he opted to retain them, though. Sundays are warm and cosy, but Osborne's greatest ability is in creating for the workweek. His clothing radiates the sharpness and refinement needed to start the week on a high note, making Monday mornings a bit less intimidating.
Maxwell Osborne of AnOnlyChild has captured the spirit of Sundays in the Spring Summer 2024 collection, making it easy for anybody to wear for a day of relaxation, leisure, and flair. Whether you're going to brunch, staying in, or simply relaxing, this collection provides a variety of adaptable alternatives that exemplify comfort and fashion while remaining loyal to the brand's distinct design ethos.
