Roksanda Ilincic presented her most recent autumn collection at Tate Britain in an enthralling exhibition of refinement and inventiveness that set the stage for a celebration of vivid colours, unusual shapes and abstract textures. Actors and artists in equal measure anxiously awaited the presentation after Zendaya recently gave a stylish homage to Roksanda at her press conference for Dune: Part Two.

This winter collection was inspired by a discovery that went beyond simple architectural appreciation at Le Corbusier's modest home on Cap Martin in the South of France. Ilincic considered the meaning of a person's relationship with nature and the search of true pleasure after being impressed by the wooden cabin's contrast of simplicity and perfection.

Ilincic drew comparisons between Le Corbusier's sanctuary's furniture and her own ideas, combining upholstery-style melton textiles with crackling leather and vivid colours reminiscent of 1960s kitchen counters. The free-form sculpture of tapestry and jacquard fabrics into elegantly draped garments was sparked by the abstract energy of Le Corbusier's mural paintings, which evoked a sense of creative spontaneity and innovation.

The colour scheme of the collection was inspired by the blue tones of the Mediterranean, where Le Corbusier sought comfort in his last hours. Not at much a depressing story, Ilincic highlighted the architect's want to leave this world at his favourite spot—a wish that was mirrored in the swirling patterns embellishing the brilliant yellow and deep blue costumes, which stood for a celebration of life and legacy.

The hands-on approach and unshakable genuineness of the designer, which appeals to women in a variety of artistic fields, are at the core of Roksanda's collection. Major artists are still enthralled with Roksanda's charm, as seen by Beyoncé's latest commission for a massive dress for her London tour and Zendaya's endorsement. This has raised expectations for who will be the next member of the prestigious Roksanda club.
