Discover Gucci Spring/Summer 2024 'Ancora' Campaign
"Ancora," the Gucci Spring/Summer 2024 campaign, is a colourful celebration that at its core represents people, life, and emotion. In his first campaign as Creative Director, Sabato de Sarno teams up with renowned photographer David Sims to create a look that precisely captures de Sarno's vision for the enduring brand. Since their initial cooperation, which ignited de Sarno's passion for fashion, Sims—who is well recognised for his noteworthy contributions to the field of fashion photography—brings a distinct viewpoint that remarkably aligns with de Sarno's aesthetic choices.Together with male models Arthur Hargous and Prince Diamond, this year's campaign has a new group of models: Ana Ross, Fadia Ghaab, Jiahui Zhang, Nyajuok Gatdet, and Violet Hume. Particularly noteworthy is Violet Hume, who is the daughter of model Kirsty Hume, a key player in Tom Ford's groundbreaking Gucci presentations throughout the 1990s. While the individual photos provide a more personal glimpse into the hedonistic spirit that Gucci has always embraced, the campaign presents the models in group situations that accentuate a strong sense of solidarity and camaraderie. Some of the photographs even subtly conceal the models' chests with bags.
The debut collection by Sabato de Sarno for Gucci marks a turning point in womenswear by embracing a return to elegance and sensuality while presenting contemporary interpretations that appeal to a wide range of consumers. The collection consists of a variety of pieces that are meant to complement each person's unique style, from bold shorts and loose, baggy jeans to branded sweatshirts and leather separates. Gucci's dedication to diversity and inclusivity in the fashion industry is reaffirmed by this strategy, which also signifies a dramatic shift in the narrative around fashion.
