Dilara Findikoglu Fall Winter 2024-2025 featuring Mariacarla Boscono Shot By Jordan Hemingway
With her Autumn Winter 2024–2025 campaign, London-based designer Dilara Findigoklu sparks a revolution by taking cues from the current Mahsa Amini demonstrations in Iran and the historical figure Joan of Arc.
Findigoklu, who is renowned for expressing feminism via clothes, tells a compelling story. Her first significant campaign is a reaction to the continuous fight for women's autonomy over their bodies and the need to undermine patriarchal authority.
"I had Joan of Arc in mind," Findigoklu says. "I hope to have freed her soul and our bodies from the territory of men."
Joan of Arc, a historical representation of a strong woman, typifies the essence that Findigoklu infuses into her creations. This book is in line with her earlier work, "Not a Man's Territory," which examined the difficulties faced by women.
The collection for Fall Winter 2024–2025 showcases an enthralling interaction between textures and silhouettes. Forms that are hyper-feminine and evocative of Victorian corsetry contrast with statement pieces like lace-up detailing and aluminium leather shoulders. A compelling tension is created by layering exquisite organza and lace with shaggy shearling and moth-eaten wools. The stunning final gown, made from vintage silver cutlery, is an example of Findigoklu's inventiveness.
The campaign's contemporary Joan of Arc is Italian model Mariacarla Boscono. The campaign, which was shot against a harsh, dystopian backdrop evoking the masters of Romanticism, inspires a dark romanticism that harmonises wonderfully with Findigoklu's brand identity.
This campaign is a monument to Dilara Findigoklu's persistent devotion to social commentary through fashion, as well as a war cry for female empowerment and a reinterpretation of Joan of Arc through the perspective of modern concerns.
