Philipp Plein Resort 2025 collection fashion show
For a star-studded party at his Cannes house, Philipp Plein eschewed the customary pandemonium of the runway to present his stunning Resort 2025 collection, which defied sporting trends by emphasizing beautiful evening wear.
Now in its fourth year, Plein's yearly gathering takes place right before the end of the Cannes Film Festival. Vibrantly, the designer exclaimed, "It's about intimacy," during a virtual walkthrough. "Here, clients get a chance to truly connect, not get lost in the crowd."
Plein did not seem to mind the last-minute postponement caused by an afternoon downpour. "That's life!" he said as he led the audience around his remodeled house, the runway itself. A classic Mustang (a not-so-subtle jab at contemporary automobile design) was tucked away as racing flags snaked across the pool area, an homage to the Monaco Grand Prix taking place nearby.
The speed motif was interpreted as a lighthearted "Grease" atmosphere. Classic songs like "Summer Nights" and hairspray-heavy looks created the perfect atmosphere, with hints of Plein's trademark bad-boy edge evident in "Cry-Baby" references.
But there was no denying that the outfits took center stage. Plein focused in on stunning gowns covered in crystals, including a flaming mini that required a week to make by hand and retailed for a whooping $35,000. The beautiful lineup was finished with costumes glittering with cascading chains and silk gowns decorated with flames.

Plein remarked, "This is a chance to showcase the most special pieces," emphasizing his move to create Resort collections that were exclusively for ladies. "The market is saturated with sporty looks," he stated, "but women are craving glamour again." Plein certainly provides it with this collection.
