Editors Pick: Top 10 Favourite Looks from Ottolinger Spring Summer 2025 collection
The fashion editor at OTS Magazine have curated their top 10 favorite looks from Ottolinger’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, a bold showcase of fearless creativity. Co-designed by Christa Bösch and Cosima Gadient, the collection brought an undeniable sense of resilience to Paris Fashion Week. Its striking finale featured a beached shark with a bloodied mouth, dramatically closing the show on a concrete runway. While the visual was intense, it wasn’t about horror, but rather survival. "This is the girl who survives all the drama," Gadient explained, perfectly capturing the spirit of the collection's daring designs.
Bösch was quite involved backstage, cutting a black dress' hem just before the performance, demonstrating Ottolinger's painstaking attention to detail. The futuristic, conceptual accessories for the collection—bands and wraps that resembled life vests—were made to be detached, giving the outfits a customisable, practical edge. According to the designers, "they were conceived as an optional add-on," showcasing how versatile the pieces are, especially for evening wear.
Poignantly, the collection notes depicted the Ottolinger woman as a "body in transit," clothed for both the celebration of yesterday and the fresh starts of tomorrow. With allusions to Calypso and a shark cruising between cities, there was a feeling of fluidity and movement that represented the modern woman negotiating difficult environments. This collection's understated theme set the tone for a big statement piece and other understated cuts. The long jersey dresses in the collection were meant to be easily worn from day to night. These included unique characteristics like double necklines that allowed a shirt collar to be worn formally or pushed forward for a more rebellious look, and they were painstakingly crafted. Among them was a red jersey outfit that perfectly captured this contrast. This season's Ottolinger collections felt more understated than earlier ones, which frequently veered towards elaborate strapping and deconstruction. Gadient acknowledged, "Sometimes, you have too many straps," indicating a more sophisticated strategy.
A body-positive black halter dress and eye-catching sandals with crystal embellishments were examples of statement pieces. A major element was leather, with structured and foiled coats in "car crash" leather providing a daring edge. The boldest item of all was probably a reimagining of classic purses, embellished with metal "Trading Bank" credit cards and coated in a tonal thermo-molded rubber, which was a fun nod to women's agency and financial independence.
Shark Beauty added a whimsical Barbie-hair touch to the collection, and Shayne Oliver contributed bikinis and glasses, demonstrating Ottolinger's love of teaming up with other brands.
Ottolinger SS25 offered a contemplative remark on self-reinvention and empowerment while fusing bold, experimental aspects with simplicity to celebrate the brave attitude of the modern lady.
