Rokh Spring Summer 2025 collection fashion show at Paris Fashion Week SS25
For his Spring/Summer 2025 collection, Rok Hwang departed from his signature deconstruction, focusing instead on intricate craftsmanship and handmade processes. Inspired by the detailed work at his atelier, Hwang explored fabric manipulation techniques, giving his collection a romantic softness without losing his inventive edge.
The collection played with organic dyes and recycled materials, such as chiffon and ribbons, to craft handmade rosettes dyed with organic tea. These delicate rosettes, shaped into blooming forms, adorned both feminine and masculine pieces, like a sharply tailored men’s suit jacket, creating a seamless blend of softness and structure.
A sense of playful elegance ran throughout the collection, with shirring and ruching adding volume and movement to airy, ethereal blouse-capes made of mousseline, while wide-leg denim featured subtle, studded embellishments. Sculptural elements were also present, as seen in the gently curved half-moon panniers attached to an off-white corset paired with draped, slouchy trousers.
Hwang’s experimentation with shapes and textures led to cascading pleated ruffles, asymmetrical half-frocks, and playful peplum crinolines, which added layers of whimsy and artistry to otherwise practical garments.
Though artistic and experimental in nature, Hwang's designs maintained a strong sense of practicality and wearability, a trait underscored by his recent collaboration with H&M, which sold out swiftly. His ability to marry high-concept fashion with commercial appeal shines through in this collection, as fantasy and realism converge. Rok Hwang's SS25 line encapsulates the delicate balance between innovation and accessibility, demonstrating his mastery of merging craftsmanship with contemporary, wearable art.
