Nicklas Skovgaard FW25-26: A Fusion of Folklore and Pop Art
For Fall Winter 2025-2026, Nicklas Skovgaard unveiled Collection 10 at Copenhagen Fashion Week, blending Danish heritage with the vibrant pop-art sensibility of Andy Warhol’s 1986 Hans Christian Andersen silkscreen series. This deeply personal collection reinterpreted nostalgia, duality, and avant-garde craftsmanship, channeling the whimsical storytelling of Andersen through innovative fabric manipulations.
Drawing inspiration from Andersen’s delicate paper cutouts, Skovgaard translated their handcrafted essence into fabric, employing techniques of cutting, ripping, and layering. The resulting silhouettes—exaggerated yet sculptural—evoked a two-dimensional effect, reminiscent of Warhol’s bold color contrasts against stark outlines.Standout pieces included a silk organza feather coat with contrast lapels, wool bomber jackets with leather panels, and voluminous mattress skirts in wool and corduroy. A striking trompe l’oeil dress in printed chiffon, wired hems, and quilted suede sleeves added a surreal dimension, while heavy draped jersey dresses with leather detailing introduced a structured fluidity. The collection’s material palette ranged from silk organza and chiffon to corduroy, wool, viscose jersey, and recycled cotton yarn for knitwear. The runway experience was heightened by a custom soundtrack, with Danish band Fame Hunter performing Disappear live during the finale. Casting by Emma Matell brought a diverse lineup of models who embodied the collection’s ethereal yet structured aesthetic.
Skovgaard’s commitment to craftsmanship extended to exclusive collaborations, including custom shoes and gloves developed with ECCO, and beauty and hair styling led by MAC Cosmetics and KAO, under the direction of Vilde Feste and Marianne Jensen.
With Collection 10, Nicklas Skovgaard wove together folklore and modernity, proving that fashion can be both deeply rooted in storytelling and boldly experimental.
