Susan Fang's Fall/Winter 2025-2026 collection, Air Memory, unfolded like a whispered dream, an ethereal fusion of personal history, cultural heritage, and technical mastery. Presented under the prestigious Supported by Dolce & Gabbana initiative, the show transformed the iconic house’s headquarters into a realm of weightless beauty, where garments appeared to float, suspended between reality and reverie.

Drawing inspiration from the delicate hues of Chinese ceramics, jade, and the storied artistry of the Beijing Imperial Palace, Fang reimagined centuries-old craftsmanship through a contemporary lens. Fractured porcelain motifs from the Song Dynasty found new life in textiles, while her mother’s post-retirement journey into painting became a deeply personal thread woven into the collection—her landscapes reinterpreted in shimmering sequins and intricate fabric prints.

The designer’s collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana’s ateliers broadened her creative vocabulary, allowing her to explore denim, corsetry, sneakers, and sequins with newfound depth. Yet, it was the breathtaking “folded-rainbow dresses” that truly defined the collection. These sculptural, cascading creations, woven from gauze ribbons in gradient hues, evoked the invisible yet powerful energy of love—garments as light as air, yet rich with emotion.

Fang’s connection to Chinese artistry extended beyond inspiration into tangible impact. Partnering with mothers from the Zhuang minority in Guangxi, she initiated a charitable project to craft hundreds of “Bubble Dandelions” from pastel tulle. These delicate, floating embellishments—symbolizing healing, endurance, and strength—graced the opening looks, reinforcing the collection’s profound ties to family, femininity, and resilience.

As Fang prepared for her own wedding, the collection took on an even more intimate significance. Three ethereal wedding gowns, painstakingly handcrafted by her mother from airy “Air-Flowers,” debuted on the runway, embodying the spirit of tradition, love, and new beginnings.
